Browser Support & Mandatory Security Upgrade to TLS 1.3

Modified on Mon, 17 Aug at 2:29 PM

As part of our commitment to maintaining the highest security, privacy, and performance standards for your data, C1Risk is upgrading its connection security to require Transport Layer Security (TLS) 1.3 exclusively.

As a result, we are retiring support for the outdated TLS 1.2 protocol. This change ensures your data is protected by the most modern encryption standards available.

Why are we making this change?

We are moving to TLS 1.3 because it offers significant benefits to your experience on the platform:

  • Stronger Security: TLS 1.3 eliminates older, weak cryptographic methods that are vulnerable to modern exploits.

  • Enhanced Privacy: It encrypts more of your connection handshake, keeping your session details safe from outside observers.

  • Faster Loading Times: The upgraded protocol sets up secure connections much faster, leading to quicker page loads.

What do I need to do?

For most users, no action is required! As long as you are using a modern, up-to-date web browser, you will continue to access C1Risk as usual.

Please review the lists below to check if your browser is ready:

Green Light: Fully Supported Browsers (Native TLS 1.3)

If you use any of these browser versions (or newer), you are fully compatible:

  • Google Chrome: Version 70+ (Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, and Android)

  • Microsoft Edge: Version 79+ (Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android)

  • Mozilla Firefox: Version 63+ (Windows, macOS, Linux, and Android)

  • Apple Safari: Version 12.1+ on macOS (Mac) and Version 12.2+ on iOS (iPhone/iPad)

  • Samsung Internet: Version 10.1+ (Galaxy devices)

  • Opera: Version 57+

Red Light: Unsupported Browsers (Action Required)

The following older browsers do not support TLS 1.3 and will be blocked from accessing the platform:

  • Internet Explorer (All Versions): Microsoft has retired IE 11, and it cannot connect using modern security protocols. You must switch to a supported browser.

  • Legacy Microsoft Edge: Versions 12 to 18 (pre-Chromium) are unsupported.

  • Outdated Browsers: Older versions of Chrome (v69 or older), Firefox (v62 or older), Mac Safari (v12.0 or older), and Samsung Internet (v10.0 or older) will no longer work.

How to Check and Update Your Browser

  1. Keep updated: The simplest way to avoid connection issues is to make sure your browser is updated to its latest version.

  2. Check your connection: You can verify your connection is using TLS 1.3 on any secure website by clicking the padlock icon next to the URL in your address bar and checking the connection security details.

  3. Check older devices: If you are running a very old operating system (like Windows XP, Windows 7, or legacy Android 4.x), your system might not support modern security protocols natively. We recommend upgrading to a modern operating system.

If you have any questions or experience an error while connecting (such as ERR_SSL_VERSION_OR_CIPHER_MISMATCH or SSL_ERROR_NO_CYPHER_OVERLAP), please verify that your browser is updated to the latest version. If issues persist, feel free to submit a support ticket right here in our Help Center!
